Homemade Pizza !!

Ingredients:

For the pizza dough:


2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

1 teaspoon sugar

¾ cup warm water (about 110°F or 45°C)

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon olive oil

For the toppings:


½ cup tomato sauce or pizza sauce

8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

Fresh basil leaves

Salt and pepper to taste

Extra virgin olive oil (for drizzling)

Instructions:


Prepare the Dough:


In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.

Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms.

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes, until it's smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Preheat the Oven:


Preheat your oven to the highest temperature it can go, usually around 500°F (260°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.

Shape the Dough:


Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Turn it onto a floured surface and shape it into your desired pizza size and thickness.

Add the Toppings:


Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet or a pizza peel dusted with flour or cornmeal to prevent sticking.

Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a border around the edges for the crust.

Arrange the sliced ​​mozzarella over the sauce.

Tear or place fresh basil leaves on top.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Bake the Pizza:


If using a pizza stone, carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated stone in the oven. If not using a stone, simply place the baking sheet in the oven.

Bake the pizza for about 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serves:


Once the pizza is done, remove it from the oven and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.
